Matt Boyas is an FPSPI alumnus, having competed in Global Issues Problem Solving (GIPS) from 2004-2009. Matt works as a Senior Data Scientist for The MITRE Corporation, a not-for-profit company that operates multiple federally funded research and development centers. In his projects, he has explored how predictive analytics can support efforts to serve children at risk for maltreatment and how complex systems modeling techniques can address prescription drug abuse and treatment. He earned a Master of Arts in statistics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics & social science from Dartmouth College.
Outside of his professional life, Matt is an amateur classical clarinetist who plays with orchestras and chamber music groups when he’s not evaluating GIPS booklets for various FPSPI Affiliate programs. Matt currently lives in Boston, MA, with his wife Shannon and his sourdough starter Sally.
