Please Note: Be sure to define divisions by component in the Users –> Divisions section before creating a competition. Ex. Junior GIPS Individual, Junior GIPS Team, Junior SW Individual, etc.

1. To create a new Topic go to –> Programming –> FPS Topics –> Press the Add button
Type in a name Ex. Practice Problem 2 – Sleep Patterns – Team, Practice Problem 2 – Sleep Patterns – Individuals, 2019-20 Scenario Writing Individual, etc
Template: Select EBook from the drop down menu
Upload an icon (Topic Related Suggested)
Select a problem type ex. Team Competition
Select the year from the drop down menu
Check the box for competitive (if applicable)

2. Click Save and then the Next button
Select Preview from the radio buttons listed for start page
Check the box for Timed Competition (if applicable)
Type in Steps for the Activities Header
Select the appropriately labeled template for the competition you are setting up

3. Click Save and then the Next button
Type the word Instructions into the Directions header field and Directions word field
Check the boxes labeled Show Menu Button, and Show Step Info
Leave the rest of the check boxes unchecked
Optional – Type appropriate instructions into the Directions box for students to see when they login and click on a topic
Optional – Type in a general description for the problem that students can see when they login and click on a topic

4. Click Save and then the Next button
If you want the Future Scene to be accessible in the system.
Type the words Future Scene into the Scene Header Text and Scene Word fields
Upload the PDF Future scene by clicking the Browse button for the Alternate File for Division field. Browse and select the Future Scene PDF file for that division. Then check the box labeled Use this as the description
Leave the rest of the fields blank and boxes unchecked
PLEASE NOTE: When setting up the competition as an admin and uploading a Future Scene for the topic. Be sure to check the checkbox labeled “Use this as the description” in order for the future scene to display properly for your teams/individuals.

5. Click Save and then the Next button
Follow the same steps listed above in Step 4 for the Middle FS tab and Senior FS tab

6. Click Save and then the Next button
Copy and Paste the suggested readings text into the Bibliography section. Comes in handy for the evaluators to access when evaluating

7. Click Save and then the Next button
Select the appropriate start and end times for the competition
Select 2 hours for the time limit (if applicable)
Also scroll down and select start and end times for each step at the very bottom of the page
PLEASE NOTE: Be sure to also set the individual step days and times at the bottom of the Timeline tab page within the admin.

8. Click Save and then the Next button
Check the boxes for each division that should have access to this Topic OR Select the teams. Please note that if you do not see any divisions listed. Then you need to define divisions under the Users –> Divisions section from the left hand menu

Click the save button
