What is the Affiliate Bowl?
Students apply problem solving skills they have been refining all year long at the annual Affiliate Bowl. This competition brings together the best and brightest FPSers within an Affiliate. Students that demonstrated their knowledge and understanding of the problem solving process in previous rounds of competition are invited to the Affiliate Finals. Champions are identified and selected to represent their Affiliate at the annual International Conference.
Affiliate Bowls vary in length, location, and activities to meet the needs of their region. Often held as a 2-3 day event, GIPS students complete their problem solving booklet and then develop a presentation of their Action Plan to perform in front of their peers. Scenario writers come together to develop collaboratively written creative short stories, inspired by the topic Future Scene. Scenario Performers present their topic inspired stories in front of a live audience. Community Problem Solvers display their project to their peers and the public. After many months of developing and implementing changes in their community, these students discuss their accomplishments and demonstrate their passion for improving their communities.
The energy and excitement of an Affiliate Bowl is incredible. Students from across their Affiliate come together to celebrate their accomplishments and pursue the ultimate level of problem solving recognition – an invitation to the International Conference!
